Hi all.
I haven't posted for ages and I probably wouldn't have if I didn't lose my lunchbreak today. I don't really view this as a punishment as I can't sign in at home. So this and when we get laptops in class is really the only time I can do my work. I have to do a post from the expedition we did last term so I think I will just post my report I did for it and if Mrs Hogg says it's not enough I'll go into the boring details of my group standing next to our fridge. Long story. (Actually it's not but anyways...)

My amazing report on Fonterra
Imagine losing your job, and the money that sustains your family. Your food and water. Your tv. Even your house! This and much more happened to 523 staff at Fonterra during the fall of milk prices. Fonterra had fired many workers to save money that they would normally be spending on worker wages. This totals more than 60 million dollars a year. But think about this, was it worth it? What Fonterra did to over 500 families? And did they even look at other options?

The Problem
Fonterra is a New Zealand based company that supplies milk and dairy products to supermarkets and other businesses. Recently, the prices for these products have dropped miserably, and Fonterra risks going bankrupt for not getting enough profit from their products. Let's say Fonterra has to pay 2000 dollars a month for the workers wages, gst, tax, and all the other nonsense the company goes through. Now let's say Fonterra earns 2500 for their products each month. After a year, Fonterra will have made a profit of 6000 dollars. This year however, Fonterra is only earning 1800 dollars for their products. This means Fonterra loses 200 dollars each month, and that’s where we are now. In order to make profit, Fonterra has to cut back on costs. The easiest way to do this is to fire off some staff. So let's say after firing some staff, Fonterra pays only 1500 dollars on worker wages, therefore having a profit of 300 dollars a month and NOT going bankrupt. This is exactly what the real Fonterra is doing. But with bigger numbers like instead of losing 200 dollars a month, they were in danger of losing millions! If this is to complicated to understand, It’s basically saying Fonterra is spending more than they have, so they have to spend less. Like on worker wages.

The Protests
The problem with milk prices affect Fonterra even after the firing of staff. Fonterra goes on protest in the local supermarkets, usually accompanied with their fellow cows. They fill lots of shopping trolleys up to the brim with the milk they supply then attempt to buy the lot. The idea is that since supermarket prices have not changed, but the price that Fonterra gets for the milk has definitely changed a lot. This is the main reason milk prices has dropped, so in theory, If Fonterra buys the milk they sold, then added it to the rest they are selling to the supermarkets, they get twice as much money because of extra milk. Even though they are buying it again. This means that supermarkets have to heighten their prices and Fonterra will have no more milk and dairy price problems. Of course this is a gradual change so Fonterra still had to make quick money. So the workers that Fonterra fired may get their jobs back within the next few years. But by then they will probably have new jobs. And security usually stop Fonterra workers from taking all the milk to re-sell. But who wouldn’t want to lose money through buying your own milk back?

A Possible Future

A business is a hard thing to run and avoid going bankrupt. More than 4000 companies in the world were forced into liquidation over the past three months, an increase of 0.5 per cent. While it may not seem like much, at this rate an extra 80 companies will go bankrupt each year. This Along with the 4000 others, and still the stats increase. Fonterra is on the verge of near bankruptcy and becoming one of 4080 is not a fun future. While 523 staff is a lot, losing over 2000 and Fonterra itself will damage supermarkets and the entire of NZ economy. Resulting in the NZ dollar going down, and meaning that tax can rise along with gst and pretty soon, what you earn each week could drop from 680 dollars down to a measly 473. That's 207 dollars you just lost. And it’s very possible for any big companies in New Zealand that supply to other parts of the world. So what do you think? Was what Fonterra did appropriate for the situation? Or was there something else they could do? And was what they did at local supermarkets good? Or bad? Thank you for your time.

All for now! Except that my dad ordered a monopoly set with "The walking dead" as the theme. Can't wait to play it!

Hi all.
For some reason, the words in the Minecraft gadget are disappearing or becoming to big to read. The gadget itself is fine, but I have disabled it for now. Also trying to do my report at school today. It's the one about Fonterra. Really boring so I'll save you the misery of hearing it. Also I have a video that I will be putting in the list of links. It's called an honest trailer, by "SMOSH Games." Enjoy!

Just so you know, This is a completely STUPID trailer for Minecraft Not actually that serious. There is also one for frozen and almost every game or movie you can think of! All for now! I'm also having overlap problems at the bottom of the page with the dancing skeletons and the interactive world map. Any help appreciated.

Hi all.
I did not end up doing the gadget fix up, but I have my reasons. For instance, I got sick on thursday and didn't get better until sunday. I will get to it when I can though. We did a writing test at school today and god it was boring. Write about something that has changed the world! Or something. We had to do it on the expedition at school and my group is doing it on Fonterra. We have to do lots of writing about it during class. All the writing tests are about memoirs or persuasive or informative. Never about fictional story writing. In one of the posts awhile ago I wrote about Tom and Lilly. I made the story last year when we had to do a sort of parody of a fairy tale. It was so much fun that I went way over the word limit. It was based on Hazel and Gretel. The voices in the forrest and the people they saw in the forrest? That was them. It was supposed to be an overlap of the story. All for now!

Hi all.
We had a Baymath test thing at school. The school is still determining what groups we will be in but I think they won't change my group quite yet. (We did come second this year in Waimath!) Also our driveway is getting concreted so we can't park in the garage for at least another week! We have to park on the road and walk up there to go out. (And our driveway is really long.)

Hi all.
Back at school after my computer crashed and froze after I initialized "Really long" Yesterday. Lucky me the computer managed to auto save. I can't remember what I was writing last night either... But I do know that I found something that I wanted to write about... but I just can't remember. (And i'm not a noob and I can see the writing I started last night.) I think I will avoid using the computer at home for now. All for now!

Hi all.
Science fair went well. I came first in my category, (Year 7-8 Living World) But not the whole of Living World. (Year 7-13) Still pretty good though. I came home with 150 dollars too! My mum won't let me spend it though. The end of the term is coming up and on Saturday, my little sister Alyssa is turning 6! I also think Baymath is coming up soon as well, about another 2 weeks. My teacher is going on about tagging my posts, but I still can't figure it out. I'm going to have another go after writing this post. Also we got a pet bird last weekend. It's called an alexandra or something. He's green and is really noisy. He keeps saying things like "hello buddy," "go to bed," and just squawking. Mum said tonight that if he keeps it up, he might have to go back. He is a lot of fun but mum has a point. All for now! I'll try to do the tags one last time.

Hi all.
Remember what I said about Waimath? Well there's also Baymath which is pretty much the same thing somewhere else and odds are i'm in that too. I was in it last year and won third in the individual test. So technicaly I was the third smartest year 7 in New Zealand for 2014. And unlike Waimath, I got an actual MEDAL. Baymath has the cooler prises. Instead of cauculaters and 1cm badges you can win big trophies and medals. And BIG chocolate bars. The school social is tonight so after we can actually do PE during PE. Not dance.  Also I added a realy cool world map along with the skeleton down below. Trying to get the hacked flappy bird off Aryan's blog. All for now!

Monday, 22 June 2015

Hi all.
Today we have a heap to do. Student led conference, science fair, and write a school memo. I want to know if my science fair intro is any good. My aim is to find out what superfood makes mealworms grow faster as they are around 26% protein. So 100 g of mealworms has more protein than 100g of beef, chicken, lamb, pork or fish! As you can see from my research below.

  • Beef:  18.4% protein
  • Lamb:  15.4% protein
  • Pork:  14.6% protein
  • Chicken:  22% protein
  • Fish:  18.3% protein
  • Mealworm:  26% protein
On the side of the blog there is a gadget with links. There is a mealworm care page. For my science fair I am using a different page but it will explain mealworms well enough. Did you know, Red scale insects are used as a natural food coloring in yogurt and smarties? I kid you not! Also 2/3 of the world suffered from protein deficiency in 1970. If we could breed mealworms faster in large amounts, it could help lots of people. Mealworms are usually a pes in kitchen cupboards and they breed fast and can eat through flour bags too! When they turn into a beetle they can lay around
250-1000 eggs in one go! The average is 400-500 eggs and they lay them in food usually, like flour.
All for now! Now go and eat some smarties!

Hi all.
The schools internet will be cut soon for a couple of weeks. The connections are already starting to cut. I've heard rumours that some of the rooms around 19 or so have NO power. If anything it's probably just the internet. Either way, my homework is to do posts about school WORK, not the school internet problems. First block we had a gymnastics test, Failed by the way. Second block I had a math test. Last block a science one. And next block there's a team hui. Boring, really. All for now, sorry for having so small posts lately.

Wednesday, 27 May 2015

Hi all. Found a super cute picture of baby blue tongue lizards. When I got Rye the lady there said that blue tongue males wouldn't get along with other lizards unless introduced while young. I got Rye when he was about 2 years of age. Most lizards live to about 20. he is about 4 now. Or will be in 4ish months. His birthday is about late September to early October. Mine is the 5th of October.

I'm entering in a science fair and for it I will be feeding different super foods to different groups of mealworms then comparing the mealworms to each other by testing there physical abilities. they still probably will be quite slow. My dad told me to find out if they could catch a brick. I looked on the internet and it did not say anything about a 3cm worm catching a brick. He also asked if I test how far they swim. Sorry dad, but they can’t swim. I have added a link to the list on the right side of the blog. Where it says more links. You may also see a new red button at the top of the gadget list. And don't forget the skeletons at the bottom! The links are the last gadget on the side of the blog. At school we are learning about WW1 and the NZ wars too. NZ has a treaty and it was signed by all the maori kings. Now we get to write poems about it. No, sorry. "Ballads." Bell just went for morning tea. All for now!

This is going to be a long post so sit back and try to enjoy all the other stuff that matters in this world.

Hi all.
Haven't posted for so long that episode 15 came out for that Mine craft movie in the last post. Will put that in at the end of this post. I have also added a blogroll sort of gadget above the S.B.C badge as part of the S.B.C. Still adding to it. Coin-box hero is a good addictive game though. For week 8 of S.B.C we have to make up a sort of travel plan so I've chosen America, New York. First I have to list what I will take.
1. Clothes x5
2. My Ipod stuff
3. A flashlight
4. Some money (Lots)
AND... (DUM BA DA BUM DUM BOOM)
5. Passport (Duh)
Usually my mum would help me pack so I'm not to sure what I have to pack. I've also found that right now 1 NZ dollar is 75 US cents in New York. So if I took 8000 NZ dollars to America, I would have 6000 US dollars to spend on whatever I want. I would have to by 5 of those t-shirts that say "My friend went on holiday and all he got me was a lousy t-shirt." One for each member of my family. LOL.  I have chosen Casablanca Hotel Times Square for my stay because it has free wifi (Yay!) and a 5 star rating. I will say now that I won't actually be going to New York. I would like to though. 7 nights will cost 2550 US dollars so that brings me down to $3450 to spend on food. There is a free breakfast buffet in the hotel, and for lunch and diner there is a restaurant called Tony's DiNapoli adjacent to the hotel which has spagetti and meatballs for $14 so I can have that for diner each night ($98) because I like spagetti and for lunch, the us subway shops have a deal where you get a subway sandwich, a cookie (Yay!) a lemonade and a packet of hot chips for only 6 US dollars! That's another 42$ so after that I will have $3316. Wait! The flight! The plane! Crud! The Auckland airport is closer to my home and I will have to convert my money to NZ to find out how much I have left after flight plans. Google says that 3316 US dollars is 4427.53 NZ dollars. And the amount of money it costs to fly to New York is $4300. (That IS a return flight though). Probably not the cheapest option but it is well in the budget. I now have 127.53 NZ dollars and in US I have 95.6475 dollars. But to make it easy, we're going to have just 95 US dollars. Last but not least, 5 t-shirts are 50 US dollars. So I now have 45 US dollars to spend on whatever I want in NY. Last but not least I have episode 15 of Jason and steve's Mine craft adventure thing!

PS: Do not watch this if you have not seen the one in the last post.
All for now!

Hi all.
'The block' was an activity we did ages ago but now is when I have to do a reflection. It probably won't be good. Anyway...
First we all did a trivia quiz in our groups. My group was the M and M's. We got a good score but I can't remember much about it except we came 1st. Then we chose our bundle of stuff to create our shelter. We were first so we chose our bundle first. we got the only tent. It had no poles but most of the others got some ropes and a tarpaulin. We also had another form of tent from one of our group members so we connected them together. In the end our tent was tied to a tree and the ground but the tent Itself wasn't touching either. It was just floating there. We lost the building competition because our tents sucked. Next was the physical challenge, tug of war. I won't bore you with the details but we lost. Then we did the mental challenge. Lie against the wall with your feet in front of you at something around 90 degrees. We also lost that. The rest of the day was boring for me so I didn't pay too much attention to it. The shared lunch was good though. I brought brownies!
All for now. Haven't posted in forever... sorry about that.

Hi all.
Not much happening lately. Most of the other class blogs have their (your gender here) of the future poem on there blog. This is mine.

I am a child
I am all the things of the past
I am my mothers eyes of a deep blue sea
I am the gamer of my father,
Clash of Clans and Minecraft all night.
I am all I can see,
Numbers on gridded paper
Goblins and barbarians going to war
Zombies and spiders in a blocky world
I am all I can hear,
Cold water flowing into a cup
The musical sound of trees in the wind
The small beep when the computer stops
And all I can feel and taste,
The smoky taste of kawai for dinner
The cold sea around my waist
The painful feeling of sunburn at the beach
The taste of pizza in my mouth
I am all I have been taught,
“9+10=21”
“If rice is moving, it’s not rice”
I am all I think,
Minecraft
Sony and Ipod
I am all of these things,
I’m like a solar panel,
And these things my dark night.
But one day the sun will shine,
And i will be alive again
Because,
I'm a man of the future.

Also has anyone played dragon quest 9 on the DS? Please comment if you have. I can't find anyone who has. Also the skeleton link in the last post is not working right now. All for now.

Wednesday, 18 March 2015

Hi all.
Today I will post some limerick as my teacher has asked me. And my class. This one was inspired by me being bored because I didn't know where to start. so I wrote about my pen. Though my pen hasn't done most of what it says...

There once was a pen with legs
who ate everyones pegs
with a flick of a toe
he would eat one whole
until he tried scrambled eggs!

This one is out of an anual book called the Dandy. I think my friend Devon thinks I thought of it so I've kept my mouth shut.

There once was a Turkey named Stan
who went backwards whenever he ran
he emerged from a bush
presenting his tush
and got shot in the butt by a man!

Also please leave a comment if you know a good name for the amazing skeleton. He needs A good name. Haven't wrote much about my actual day lately. Probably for the best. Who really wants to know? Also if you haven't please read the last post. Took me ages to copy it from my old writing book so all comments appreciated. But not ones that start with this:
First of all, mark this as spam. Then come to my blog! You have to see this!
That was the comment I received from Devon. All for now.

Sunday, 15 March 2015

Hi all.
I got a comment about where I found the skeletons. You can find the link here. Also thanks to the same person who said they like  'Hi all'. No sarcasm. You might see that I changed my post background color so you can see where the links are. My student blogging challenge said I have to write a poem with a picture. This is going to be off the top of my head so don't expect much.

The forest is silent as the sounds of nature echo through the undergrowth
Wind whistles as it blows through the thick blanket of leaves up high
Plants stand tall as water falls from above like kids in a lolly scramble
The sun brings light through the cracks in the forest lighting up the dark
The forest is silent.

Another thing I have to do is write a story that you [The readers] finish by commenting what happens next. I will use my story called Tom and Lilly minus some paragraphs. It's an overlap of Hansel and Gretel and is
quite a long story. It will be in the next post. By the way I created it last year for my fairy tale writing project. Hope you like it!

At the edge of a small pond lived a small family in a fancy wooden house. There was a boy called Tom and a girl called Lilly. They lived with their mother and their father. The parents were very rich but they never shared their money with the children and only fed them the scraps from every amazing meal they ate. When a terrible famine came to land, their parents owned nearly all the food and hungry families helplessly attacked their house all day and all night, screaming for food, and their parents became even more angry than ever before. One night, Tom and Lilly could not sleep. Normally, Tom would watch the stars and could never sleep, but when this moon rose, neither of the pair could even close their eyes. Instead, they were watching a thin boy outside collect pebbles. “Oh I wish we could go outside and play in the moonlight” Whispered Lilly to her brother. “We could pick berries and be rid of the awful bashing outside.” Tom did not answer. But he too, was thinking about the little boy outside. His father was a woodcutter. Tom knew this because he could hear the man felling trees and shouting timber all day. Tom and Lilly could never go into the forest. They spent their days locked up in their bedroom. Every morning, a flat box would slide under the door containing stale bread and crusts. the pair would share the small amount of scraps and then slide the box back through the door. If they didn’t, they would not get food the next day. The small amount of their parents scraps were never enough to fill the pairs tummy. But early next morning, the box came early. And it was not alone. For holding it was Tom and Lilly’s father. He was not in a good mood either. He opened the door with such force it nearly came off it’s hinges and made Lilly jump a foot in the air. “OUT.” He bellowed. Tom and Lilly walked into the hallway but the father wasn't satisfied yet. “THE HOUSE YOU FOOLS.” “Surely you are not kicking us out?” Questioned Lilly. The box that had survived for as long as they could remember suddenly crumpled inside the man’s giant fist. Taking the hint, the pair quickly found their way to the door. The crowd outside were all lying down on the ground. Probably asleep. But the next thing gave both of them a shock. The slam of the door behind them and the click of the lock that followed. Tom and Lilly started to scream and they helplessly attacked the door until sunrise came, where they spotted the boy from last night along with the rest of his family. They were all heading to the forest near their house. The forest was also fairly close to them as well. The pair decided to follow them in. “I’m sure that they would give us a bite to eat if we asked.” Said Lilly. ”Maybe even a place to sleep for the night.” Tom did not agree. He was stuck on the theory that they would also send them away. “We probably should follow from a safe distance.” He said.So the pair followed the family from a distance where the family could not see them. At one point, the family lit a fire. They said something to each other but Tom and Lilly could only hear murmurs. Then the adults went deeper into the forest, leaving their children alone. Soon Tom got bored and he left to find the parents. Lilly thought they should wait for the adults to come to her and ask them for a small bite and maybe a place to rest for the night. But she knew that Tom would never agree to that. But they never came back. Nor Tom. Before she knew it, the moon was up and her eyes were closed.Suddenly, Lilly was shaking violently and her eyes tore open. Tom was over her, shouting words in her face. She did her best to make words out of the sounds that were thrown in her face. “They’re gone! All gone! Were lost! No food! And TREES! TREES, TREES, TR-” “Calm down Tom! Trees won’t kill you!” Lilly interrupted, still half asleep and not taking in the situation properly. “Lilly! Were lost in a forest thicker than our fathers arm hair! The trees can and will kill us! We’ll STARVE!” Lilly said nothing. Their father did not have thick arm hair but she knew that the forest was still very thick. Tom finally stopped yelling when he heard voices. He leaped into a bush and then ran out saying a word that starts with “F”. Lilly stifled a laugh as a few bees emerged out of the bush and flew after him. The voices grew louder.“Do hurry up Hansel, you are slowing us all down!” Lilly hid behind a large oak tree and listened. “stay near the fire and we will come back soon.” Lilly followed the voices until she saw the group of four from yesterday reunited again. the two children were sharing a piece of bread between them. Not an awful lot either. Lilly began to reconsider the fact that the family would be able to help them. They must have more at there house. She thought. If they cannot help us, then we wouldn't be here. Suddenly, a noise came from behind Lilly. She swung around, ready to fight. A very wet Tom stood up with his arms up and rolled his eyes. “Sheesh, it’s just me.” He whispered. “No need to throw fists.” Lilly relaxed. Ashamed, she started to talk.”What happened?” “Bees can’t swim and the water is freezing. Who was talking before anyway?” Tom asked. “The family from yesterday. And the parents left again.” Lilly whispered. A heavy silence fell and then Lilly sat under the oak and covered her eyes.Tom started to attack the tree but he soon stopped. He sat down next to Lilly and whispered into her ear.”Trees can and will kill us, but that’s no reason to give up.” Lilly looked up and forced a smile but it didn't last. Through their misery, they heard voices. Gradually, they got quieter until it finally stopped. But the pair didn't care. They were lost, hungry, cold and alone. When the moon came up, Lilly managed to fall asleep but Tom couldn't even close his eyes.

So now this is where you comment with your answer to what happens next. Sorry but the paragraphs lagged the writing off the screen. Don't forget to add your own blog address when you comment for others to see your blog! Also I believe this is the biggest post in room 10 as to this date. All for now.

Hi all.
Trying to post when I can. Just finished a math pat on the computer. Think I could be the first. Our school has a mufti tomorrow and that means we don't wear our uniform. we also bring a gold coin donation. This time it's for the children of Haiti. It's called Purple cake day. That's got a link in it by the way. The website is a great place for cake recipes too. Also I have to give a review for a game so I chose tank trouble. It's a great PvP game where you zoom around in tanks collecting upgrades and blasting your opponent in multiple user made mazes. By the way that had a link too. There's also a single player mode against Laika, the robot dog tank. Got P.E next. Not looking forward to it. All for now.

Hi all.
Focus prep today. It was boring but I survived. Last block was probably the most exiting as we made cupcakes in the food tech room. Usually my group's cupcakes look like purple radioactive muffins or mini crumble cakes. This time they looked like scones. The whole name of our cupcakes is 'Healthy' beetroot cupcakes with blueberry icing. We made some changes to the recipe though. Like we didn't use 4 cups of flour. After school me and my family went to my little sister, Sammie's Preschool with fish and chips for her picnic. After Alyssa gave away all our plastic cups to the other kids, we all sat down to eat our fish and chips and drink our lemonade with the last cup that remained. Sometimes Alyssa can be a bit of a pain. My mum wants to use the computer so I'll finish up. Not that there's much to say. I had way to many chips and now my tummy hurts. By the way I got mixed up with the chicken thing. It's on chanel 2 on sky, and it's on sunday. I'll find out what time tomorow. All for now.

Monday, 2 March 2015

Hi all.
Well I was wrong about not posting for a while. I'm at school right now and I still have the bad laptop. My class should be doing math but half the class is blogging and the other half is reading. My friend Devon is sitting next to me. He is reading over my shoulder right now. Ok he stopped. Last year when we went to the library during school time the whole class would get a book and read. This year we learn about how to find a book in the library and that sort of stuff before we can read. Most people are ok with it but I get annoyed. We have a focus ( An assembly) coming up and Aranui, a group of four classrooms including mine are playing a part in it. All we have to do is do a small play in groups of 10. It should be fun but most of my group, including me, is always off task. As it might help, this is the link to my teacher's blog. Hope I helped. Also watch the news tonight. If you see a chicken in a jacket, blame the pigs. All for now.

Sunday, 1 March 2015

Hi all.
Well by the emptiness of my blog you probably guessed this is my first post. I have my reasons...
My teacher is Mrs Hogg. And she says I should write about myself. Well I like Minecraft and Math. I don't like the laptop I am using because there is a very annoying fuzzy line on the right side. I go to Berkley Normal Middle School and learn there. I live in New Zealand, and I have a pet lizard called Rye. My favourite book is Atherton and in the weekends I go to a caravan at Papamoa beach. Personally, I hate the beach. And caravans with no wheels and a tent sticking out the side. I have 3 sisters who are all younger than me and are mostly annoying. I like writing about fantasy and not about memoirs. I like working behind the scenes. like the people who work in a box and keep the music and lights and whatnot working. I despite art and preforming. And I hate fruits and nuts. I like hotdogs and candy. (Most people like candy though.) I play clash of clans and as I mentioned before, I am a huge Minecraft fan. My dream job is a computer programer. You know, sitting in a room all day making computer games. Also when I can log in at home I will post a picture of Rye. The lunch bell just went. All for now. (Probably for a while.)
